Well, when I first read the title of this book, I said to myself…of course they are! But are they? Take a walk through the museum with Dave and his Dad and then tell me what you think!
Are the Dinosaurs Dead, Dad? is such a cute story – especially if you have a dinosaur-loving tot in your home. And what a great book to read before you make a trip to the museum to visit of few dinosaurs yourself. It really makes you think about how much you listen to your children/grandchildren when they talk to you as you go through an exhibit…
Anyway…Dave and his Dad head to the museum to visit the dinosaur exhibit and they get a little bit more than they bargained for. Each time they see a dinosaur, Dad tells Dave the dinosaurs name and something special about it…and he moves on. As Dave goes to leave, well let’s just say each dinosaur has a surprise for him, and leave it at that. It will make the book more fun for you!
Written by Julie Middleton and illustrated by Russell Ayto, both hale from the “other side of the pond” so to speak. Ayto has been illustrating children’s books for a number of years, and this is Middleton’s first foray into a picture book. I love the illustrations and so will your little one – they are just silly enough to make a small one laugh without going overboard. And the story is simple and uncomplicated – just the way a small child likes it.
