This photo shows a line of photos bounded by pine trees on the bottom of the photo. It was taken from Trail Ridge Road on the climb up from Bear Lake.

There are more, and different rules to entering Rocky Mountain National Park this year. Timed entry tickets are required from May 27 to October 10. Tickets can be purchased during two different intervals. The first interval is the month prior to your visit. Tickets go on sale on the first of the month at 10 AM Mountain Daylight Time. For instance, tickets can be purchased on May 1st for May 27th through June 30. Tickets go on sale on June 1st for July etc. The tickets are for two-hour time blocks, with the exception being the 5 AM entry ticket for Bear Lake. Entry to the park is only allowed during the interval noted on the timed entry pass.

There are two different timed entry passes. For the Bear Lake area timed entry tickets are required between the hours of 5 AM and 6 PM. The 5 AM timed entry tickets are for 1 hour. All other timed entry intervals are for two hours. A different timed entry pass is required for the rest of the park for the hours between 9 AM and 3 PM. Again, the timed entry passes are for 2 hours. A big change from last year is that you must enter the park during the 2-hour interval that the timed entry ticket specifies. You will be turned away otherwise. All timed entry tickets must be purchased online and cost $2.00 at this site.

For more details regarding timed entry tickets and other points of interest, links have been provided at the end of this post. We have also produced a video about the changes this year. It can be found here.
