This rare bird visited us this summer. It has been a blast watching it and photographing it. When it is in flight it is easily spotted. When it perches on the tree branch it very quickly burrows into the interior of the tree getting out of site as quickly as possible. The same for when it perches on some grass or weeds it quickly dives down to the ground in order to be out of sight. Hence the specialty of the this photo. This photo was taken in early August. The molting is evident in the rough appearance of the flight and tail feathers.
